Wavesail/windsurf trip to Mauritius 05
After experiencing the 'Magic that is Mauritius' last June/July a decision has been made to return to one of the best windsurfing destinations on the planet.
With a 100% success rate on the last trip - we sailed 16 out of a possible 16 days which included 2 magical mast high days on the outer reef, Mauritius delivered as an all in one windsurfing destination.
Turns out last year was not as windy as normal which meant the majority of time was spent using 5.0 - 5.4 sails !
We also managed to squeeze in 5 or 6 fantastic surf sessions right out front of the hotel at a break called One Eyes.
The south Western corner of Mauritius, known as le Morne has everything for any level of windsurfer.
There is the outer reef that can hold mast high plus waves.
There is the inner reef that can get over head high
There is a number of smaller reefs on the way out to the inner reef that can be sailed and jumped. You simply pick the condition that best suits you and fill your boots.
There is the perfect protected spot for learners
There is a dead flat section for the speed freaks or freestyle fanatics.
All of this just 200 metres walk from your room.
Once you have finished sailing for the day your rigged gear can be left out the front of your room on the lush grass under the shade of coconut palms.
Each and every room has its own balcony or veranda (depending on whether you are situated upstairs or down.
The food is buffet style and caters for any and every taste.
There is a massive pool complete with swim up bar.
Complimentary water sports include ski ing and sailing (lasers)
The lagoon out the front for the hotel is perfect for snorkelling or simply a lazy swim.
Perfect for the whole family, and the resort is big enough so you can get away from the group if the need takes you.
A short walk from the hotel is an awesome golf course along with access to big game fishing, reef trips, dive lessons and much more.
Mauritius is the perfect place for those flying solo, those with a partner and even those wanting to take the family away from wintery weather and into beautiful tropical paradise.
You can take your own windsurfing gear or hire the latest stuff from Mistral Sur Station or RRD sail centre right on the beach for around $500 for the length of the trip.
last year everyone on the group took their own gear and there were no problems what so ever. As we will be travelling as a group we have been able to negotiate a baggage allowance of 30 kilos + and additional 20 kilos for sporting equipment per person!

Just so everyone is clear from the start, this is not a money making venture and everyone (us included) will be paying the above prices.
We have simply gathered the information in the hope that some of you (if not all) will be able to join us for a windsurfing trip to remember.
