Camping…Kendall style!

You know about the weather?!? Well, Simone & I were the first ones to turn up at the campsite so we could choose anywhere and after much deliberation, we chose the ideal spot in the corner. Then on Friday night at dinner Simone noticed a bug on her clothes which Alison pointed out was a tick!! As you can imagine that was it - every itch was a tick bite.

After a restless nights sleep, we awoke to the sounds of waves crashing, birds singing, kids playing and ticks eating through our tent. On the outside of the tent there were 12-15 big shellback ticks - that was it, enough of camping, 5-star is what we were after. The strange thing was that the Thornton’s, Jacobs and Cudmore’s were no more than 2 metres away from our tent and they did not have one tick anywhere.

After convincing Simone to stay, we decided to move the tent to another location and as we picked up the tent there were another 10 or so ticks on the bottom of the tent.

We re-located the tent and sprayed a ring of death (bug spray 3 inches thick) around the tent to ward off the nasties and to kill off the grass for the next 10 years.

Luckily for us no ticks were found within a 5km radius of our tent but little Jarrah had a couple on him as did one of the Jacob's kids.

All in all it was a camping trip that got a big TICK of disapproval.
